Jio Platforms' public offer is being reported as the largest in Indian market history (Upstox News, 21 October 2026), and Day 1 showed a split crowd. Institutions filled their quota inside two hours. Retail investors closed the day at 0.68 times their quota, still short of a full subscription (The Tribune, 22 October 2026).

Bidding ends on Friday, 23 October. Three numbers drive most decisions: ₹13,428 for one lot, a grey market premium of roughly ₹250 on Day 1, and the fact that about 91% of the money raised will repay debt rather than fund new projects. Each is explained below.

Jio IPO Overview

What Is Jio Platforms IPO?

The Jio Platforms IPO is the first public share sale by Jio Platforms Limited, the holding company of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL). It is a book-built issue of 27 crore new equity shares with a face value of ₹10, and there is no offer for sale (Chittorgarh, compiled from the RHP, 21 October 2026).

A common mix-up needs clearing. This is not Reliance Industries selling its Jio stake. Every rupee goes to Jio Platforms, and Reliance Industries, the promoter, is only diluted: its holding falls from 66.43% to 64.48% after the issue (RHP figures via Chittorgarh).

The company filed its draft red herring prospectus on 19 June 2026 (IPO Index tracker) and the red herring prospectus is now on SEBI's website.

Reliance Jio IPO: Company Background

Jio Platforms was incorporated on 15 November 2019. Its subsidiary RJIL served 533.3 million customers as of 30 June 2026, and the company says its wireless broadband network covers more than 99% of India's population (RHP summary via Chittorgarh).

The group also runs consumer apps, enterprise connectivity, cloud and IoT services, and an AI platform it calls JioBrain. It reported 7,220 patent applications, with 1,043 granted, as of 30 June 2026, and 27,932 full-time employees plus 63,795 contract staff (same source).

One fact matters more than the product list. RJIL contributed 87.74% of consolidated revenue, 94.88% of EBITDA and 93.76% of net profit in FY26 (INDmoney review, October 2026). In practice, buying Jio Platforms means buying the telecom business.

Jio IPO Important Dates

Bidding runs three working days, and the schedule after it follows SEBI's T+3 listing timeline: three working days from close to listing. Because 24 and 25 October are a weekend, the gap looks short.

Jio IPO Opening and Closing Date

The Jio IPO open date was 21 October 2026 and the close date is 23 October 2026. Bids can be placed, revised or withdrawn during this window through a broker app, net banking or UPI.

Jio IPO Allotment Date

The Jio IPO allotment date is 26 October 2026, a Monday. The registrar, KFin Technologies, finalises the basis of allotment, and statuses usually go live that evening or the next morning.

Jio IPO Refund and Share Credit Date

Unsuccessful bidders should see blocked money released, and successful bidders should see shares in their demat account, on 27 October 2026. If you applied through UPI or ASBA, your money was only blocked, never debited, so "refund" means an unblock.

Jio IPO Listing Date on NSE and BSE

Shares are expected to start trading on NSE and BSE on 28 October 2026. Trackers label this tentative until the exchanges publish the listing notice (Chittorgarh, 21 October 2026).

Later dates also matter. Half of the anchor shares unlock on 25 November 2026 and the rest on 24 January 2027 (Chittorgarh), and both dates add shares to the market.

Jio IPO Issue Details

Jio IPO Price Band

The Jio IPO price band is ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share (IPO Watch, 21 October 2026). Retail bidders are expected to use the cut-off price, which means you accept whatever final price is set, up to ₹1,119.

Employees get a discount of ₹54 per share. The shares have a face value of ₹10, so at the top of the band the market is paying ₹1,109 over face value.

Jio IPO Lot Size and Minimum Investment

The Jio IPO lot size is 12 shares. The minimum investment is ₹13,428 at ₹1,119 (or ₹12,780 at ₹1,065).

Jio IPO Issue Size and Fresh Issue

The issue size is up to ₹30,213 crore, and all of it is a fresh issue. Some trackers show ₹30,187.65 crore, a small gap that probably reflects the employee discount.

Of 27 crore shares, 2.70 crore are set aside for employees and Reliance Industries shareholders. The remaining net offer is split as follows.

Anchor investors bid on 19 October and put in ₹8,109.85 crore at the upper band (Chittorgarh). One report put total anchor-book bids near ₹2.5 trillion (Flickonclick, 22 October 2026).

Jio IPO Face Value and Listing Exchange

Face value is ₹10 per share, and the shares will list on both NSE and BSE. Kotak Mahindra Capital is the first of 19 book-running lead managers, a group that also includes Morgan Stanley, BofA Securities, Axis Capital, SBI Capital Markets and ICICI Securities (Chittorgarh).

Jio Platforms IPO Promoter and Shareholding Pattern

Shares outstanding rise from 8,93,90,30,830 to 9,20,90,30,830. At ₹1,119 that gives a post-issue market cap of about ₹10.30 lakh crore (Chittorgarh, 21 October 2026).

Existing Reliance holders already own Jio through RIL's two-thirds stake. Bidding in this IPO adds to that exposure instead of diversifying it.

How to Apply for Jio IPO

You can apply through a broker app using UPI, or through your bank's net banking using ASBA. Both block money in your account until allotment. You need an active demat account, a PAN, and a bank account tied to your UPI ID.

Jio IPO Apply Online Process

  1. Open the IPO section of your broker app or net banking and select Jio Platforms Limited.
  2. Enter the number of lots (12 shares each) and tick the cut-off price.
  3. Choose your category: Retail, Employee or Shareholder, where eligible.
  4. Submit and confirm the mandate or block request before the window closes.

Mandate approval is where Day 3 applications fail. If you do not approve the UPI request in your payments app, the bid is not valid. Aim to finish well before the final hour, because brokers and banks set their own cut-offs.

How to Apply Through UPI

Enter your UPI ID in the broker app. A collect request arrives in your UPI app, and you approve it with your PIN. Retail UPI bids are limited by the UPI cap for IPOs, which is ₹5 lakh per application. Brokers without banking arms, such as Zerodha, use this route (Chittorgarh).

How to Apply Through ASBA

ASBA (Application Supported by Blocked Amount) is available in your bank's net banking under the IPO section. Choose the issue, enter lots and price, and the bank blocks the amount directly. Because Big NII bids start above ₹10 lakh, they will mostly go through ASBA.

If retail is oversubscribed, allotment is by lottery, and a winning application normally gets one lot. That makes the table below useful.

Final retail subscriptionApproximate chance a one-lot bid is picked
0.9x or below100% (all valid bids fully allotted)
1.5xAbout 67%
3xAbout 33%
5xAbout 20%

Analysis, not an official figure: assumes most bids are for one lot. The registrar sets the real basis of allotment.

This is why bidding for 14 lots does not raise your odds once retail is oversubscribed. It only locks up more cash. Families do better by bidding separately from each adult's own PAN and demat account, and by using a separate UPI ID for each bid.

Documents Required for Jio IPO Application

  • PAN, linked to your demat account
  • An active demat account (with NSDL or CDSL) and its DP ID and client ID
  • A bank account linked to your UPI ID, or net banking with ASBA enabled
  • Reliance Industries shares held in that same demat account on or before the record date, if you want the shareholder quota

No paper form is needed for online bids, and most brokers charge nothing to place an IPO bid. Brokerage applies when you sell after listing. [VERIFY: with your broker]

Jio IPO GMP and Market Expectations

Grey market activity points to a listing near ₹1,370, about 22% above the top of the band, though the number is informal and has been moving by the hour.

What Is Jio IPO GMP?

GMP (grey market premium) is the unofficial price at which Jio shares trade in private deals before listing. It is not published by NSE, BSE or SEBI, and it can change sharply between morning and evening.

Reading it as a forecast is a common mistake. It tells you what a small, unregulated market thinks today, and nothing more.

Jio IPO Grey Market Premium Today

On 21 October 2026, trackers disagreed by ₹30 on the same day:

TrackerTimeGMPIndicative listing
Investorgain9:37 am₹276₹1,395
IPO Index2:15 pm₹255₹1,374
IPOji3:30 pm₹251₹1,370
IPO Premium21 October₹246₹1,365

Indicative listing is the upper price of ₹1,119 plus GMP. IPOji's earlier quote was ₹140 on 2 October, so the premium roughly doubled after the price band and anchor round.

Refresh these before acting. Numbers here are a snapshot, and the premium has already drifted down since the morning peak.

Jio IPO Expected Listing Price

A scenario table turns GMP into rupees for one retail lot of 12 shares, before taxes and charges.

Scenario (GMP)Listing priceGain or loss per lotGain or loss %

₹250₹1,369₹3,00022.3%
₹275₹1,394₹3,30024.6%

At ₹1,370, the market cap would be about ₹12.6 lakh crore, which is roughly ₹2.3 lakh crore above the issue valuation.

Jio IPO Listing Gains: What Investors Should Know

A single lot at the current premium is worth about ₹3,000 on paper. Most retail applicants will receive either that one lot or nothing.

Large issues have a mixed record on listing day. Size can calm volatility, since there are many shares to trade, but it also gives early buyers a lot of supply to sell into. Anchor shares unlock on 25 November 2026.

Treat listing gains as an extra, and not the reason to bid. A grey market that moves ₹30 between trackers is not a plan.

Jio IPO Subscription Status

Jio Platforms was subscribed 3.01 times by 5 pm on Day 1, with bids for 59.44 crore shares against 19.75 crore on offer (The Tribune, 22 October 2026). The QIB portion was fully subscribed within 100 minutes of opening (Business Today, 21 October 2026).

Jio IPO Day 1 Subscription Status

CategorySubscription at 5 pm, Day 1 (21 October)
QIB (ex-anchor)9.02x
NII1.58x
Retail0.68x
Employees1.30x
Shareholders1.38x
Overall3.01x

Retail bid for 5.78 crore of the 8.50 crore shares offered, so about 2.72 crore shares, or roughly ₹3,044 crore at the top of the band, were still unbid at that point. The overall 3.01x is measured against 19.75 crore shares, which excludes the anchor portion.

Jio IPO Day 2 Subscription Status

Day 2 is today, 22 October 2026. Final category-wise numbers appear on NSE and BSE after the close, and this section should be updated with them.

Expect to see how retail moves. The gap between 0.68x and 1x is small, and Day 2 usually shows whether the crowd is waiting for the last day.

Jio IPO Day 3 Subscription Status

Day 3 is Friday, 23 October 2026. Retail and NII bids often arrive late on the final day, so Day 1 and Day 2 numbers can understate the final multiple.

Jio IPO QIB, NII and Retail Subscription

QIB (institutions) set the tone because they hold half the net offer. Their early bids reflect research views, and at least six brokerages recommended subscribing, mostly with a long-term view (Goodreturns, 21 October 2026).

NII shows where larger individual money sits. Retail shows the everyday investor. A retail number under 1x, as on Day 1, means every valid retail bid would be filled in full if the issue closed there. Above 1x, the lottery table earlier applies.

Jio IPO Allotment Status

The allotment will be finalised on 26 October 2026, and the quickest checks are the registrar page, the BSE page and your broker app.

How to Check Jio IPO Allotment Status Online

  1. Wait until the registrar publishes the basis of allotment on 26 October.
  2. Open the registrar's IPO status page and pick Jio Platforms Limited.
  3. Enter your PAN, application number or DP and client ID.
  4. Check your demat account on 27 October for credited shares.

If your status says "not allotted", your blocked amount is released. If it says "allotted", the shares appear in your demat account after the credit date.

Check Jio IPO Allotment on BSE

BSE offers a Status of Issue Application page for equity IPOs. Select "Equity", choose the issue name, and enter your application number and PAN.

Check Jio IPO Allotment on NSE

NSE publishes bid and subscription data, and its listed issues are usually checked through the registrar or a broker app instead. Use the registrar if NSE's page does not show a status field.

Jio IPO Review and Analysis

Jio Platforms is a profitable, low-debt telecom group priced at about 33 times earnings, with a premium that already gives buyers a cushion and a risk that a lot of the good news is in the price. The facts below come from the RHP and brokerage notes. Statements marked "analysis" are this article's own reasoning.

Jio Platforms Business Model

Jio sells mobile and fixed broadband to consumers, and enterprise, cloud and IoT services to businesses. It earns from monthly recharges, fibre and fixed wireless plans, and add-on digital services.

ARPU (average revenue per user per month) rose from ₹181.7 in FY24 to ₹214 in FY26 and ₹215.6 in Q1 FY27 (INDmoney, October 2026). That slow climb is the single most important growth driver.

Jio IPO Strengths

  • Scale: 533.3 million customers on RJIL as of 30 June 2026 (RHP via Chittorgarh).
  • Margin: an EBITDA margin of 51.91% and PAT margin of 20.46% in FY26 (Chittorgarh).
  • Balance sheet: net bank debt to EBITDA of 0.36x, against 1.36x for Airtel (INDmoney).
  • Debt repayment: Geojit expects the proceeds to cut the debt to equity ratio from 0.3x to 0.1x (Business Today, 21 October 2026).
  • Research support: at least six brokerages said subscribe (Goodreturns, 21 October 2026).

Jio IPO Risk Factors

  • Concentration: RJIL accounts for roughly 88% of revenue, 95% of EBITDA and 94% of profit (INDmoney). A problem in the telecom arm is a problem for the whole company.
  • Returns: return on capital employed was 10.76%, against 19% for Airtel (INDmoney).
  • Spectrum: about ₹1.04 lakh crore of deferred spectrum obligations remain (INDmoney).
  • Growth dependence: profit depends on ARPU rising and customers staying (5paisa, October 2026).
  • Licences and regulation: telecom licences and spectrum create exposure to non-renewal and delays (Religare Broking, via Goodreturns).
  • Related-party dependence is also flagged by Shriram Research (TradingView, 21 October 2026).

Sources differ on how big these risks are, so read the RHP's risk section before bidding.

Jio IPO Valuation Analysis

At 33 times earnings, the earnings yield is about 3%. Analysis: that is a modest cash return for a buyer, so the case rests on profit growing steadily for years, mostly through ARPU and broadband. Airtel carries a higher multiple and a higher return on capital, which makes Jio's discount to Airtel look partly earned.

Should You Subscribe to Jio IPO?

This is not investment advice, and the answer depends on what you want.

If you are...Consider
Aiming for listing gainOdds of one lot are lower if retail oversubscribes. Gain per lot is ₹0 to about ₹3,000 on current premium.
A long-term holderValuation is about 33 times earnings with a low-debt balance sheet. Check your comfort with a telecom-dependent business.
A Reliance Industries holderYou already own Jio via RIL's 66% stake. A bid adds concentration.
A first-time IPO investorStart with one lot. It costs ₹13,428 and carries the same allotment odds as a larger bid.

Most analysts in the sources above lean positive for the long term. That is their view, and the risks listed earlier are real. Verify details with the official RHP and consult a SEBI-registered adviser if you are unsure.

Jio IPO Use of Proceeds

About ₹27,500 crore of the ₹30,213 crore raised will repay borrowings of RJIL, with the rest going to general corporate purposes (RHP via Chittorgarh, 21 October 2026). That is about 91% of the issue.

For perspective, ₹27,500 crore equals roughly 45% of the ₹61,372 crore of consolidated borrowings reported on 30 June 2026. Analysis: this is a balance-sheet clean-up more than a growth raise, so new investors are buying lower interest costs, not new capacity.

Jio IPO FAQs

What is the Jio IPO price band?

The Jio IPO price band is ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share, with a face value of ₹10 (IPO Watch, 21 October 2026). Retail bidders can pick the cut-off price, and employees get a ₹54 discount.

What is the Jio IPO lot size?

The lot size is 12 shares. That is ₹13,428 at the upper band and ₹12,780 at the lower band, and retail investors can bid up to 14 lots (₹1,87,992) (Chittorgarh).

When will Jio IPO allotment be announced?

The basis of allotment is expected on Monday, 26 October 2026 (Chittorgarh and IPO Watch). Shares credit and refunds follow on 27 October.

When will Jio IPO list on NSE and BSE?

The expected listing date is Wednesday, 28 October 2026 on both exchanges. The date stays tentative until the exchanges confirm it.

How can I check Jio IPO allotment status?

Use the KFin Technologies IPO status page, BSE's Status of Issue Application page, or your broker app after the allotment on 26 October. You will need your PAN, application number or DP and client ID.

Is Jio IPO good for long-term investment?

Brokerages such as Emkay, Swastika, Shriram Research and Geojit have given it a subscribe rating for a long-term horizon, but nobody can promise returns. The case rests on low debt and a roughly 33x P/E, balanced against heavy telecom concentration and a 10.76% return on capital (Goodreturns, TradingView, INDmoney, October 2026). Decide using the RHP and your own time horizon.

Next step: Before you bid, open the red herring prospectus on SEBI's website, read its risk factors, and approve your UPI mandate early on 23 October. Check back on 26 October for the allotment steps above.
